California Maritime Academy Department of Education

Photo of CA Maritime Academy Dept of EducationThe Department of Education was granted sovereign salt marsh, tide and submerged lands in trust 1945 for the use and benefit of the California Maritime Academy. Located in the City of Vallejo, the Academy is one of only seven degree-granting maritime academies in the United States and the only one on the West Coast.

Statute Description
Chapter 840, Statutes of 1945 An act providing for the transfer to the Department of Education exclusive jurisdiction and control over certain lands.
Chapter 135, Statutes of 1947 An act providing for the transfer to the Department of Education of exclusive jurisdiction and control over certain lands.

The Maritime Academy is required by Section 6306 of the Public Resources Code to complete an annual financial statement and standardized reporting form for trust lands.
