Chief of the Marine Environmental Protection Division
Chris Beckwith has been with the California State Lands Commission – Marine Environmental Protection Division since 1992. During his nearly three decades with the state he has held the positions of Marine Safety Inspector, Marine Safety Specialist I and II, Marine Safety Supervisor and is currently the Division Chief. As the Division Chief, he manages and directs the activities of a state-wide pollution prevention program that regulates marine oil terminals, inspects vessels for compliance with marine invasive species prevention regulations and Marine Oil Terminal Engineering and Maintenance Standards (MOTEMS).
Prior to his state service, Chris was an Assistant Operations Manager for an international loss control/quality control inspection company, a Marine Oil Terminal Supervisor and was in the United States Air Force as a Fuels Specialist.
