Environmental Planning and Management Division

The Division of Environmental Planning and Management (DEPM) was organized in 1975 to ensure the compliance of the Commission with the provisions of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), and to provide analytical staff services (policy and technical) to the members of the Commission, it's Executive Officer and the line programs.

Land Management Division

The Land Management Division (LMD) has primary responsibility for the surface management of all sovereign and school lands in California. This responsibility includes the identification, location, and evaluation of the State's interest in these lands and its leasing and management.

Marine Facilities Division

The basic authority for the activities of the Marine Facilities Division (MFD) of the CSLC is found in the Lempert-Keene-Seastrand Oil Spill Prevention and Response Act of 1990 (Act), Division 7.8 of the Public Resources Code. The 1989 Exxon Valdez and the 1990 American Trader crude oil spills led to the development and subsequent passage of the Act.

Mineral Resources Management Division

The Mineral Resources Management Division (MRMD) manages the use of energy and mineral resources of more than 160 oil, gas, geothermal and mineral leases covering more than 153,000 acres of state-owned lands. The Division's goals are to ensure public safety, protect the environment, and maximize revenue. MRMD staff includes specialists in petroleum engineering, geology, drilling and production operations, civil engineering, structural engineering, resource economics, mining and leasing.
